Evolution Aqua Tempest Bypass (step by step build)

In this video, Michael demonstrates both the pond pipework, fittings and koi pond valves needed to set up a bypass on the Evolution Aqua Tempest.

A bypass would be installed to lower the flow going through the Tempest when you are using a fixed flow pump. The clever system, has been installed and used at Elite Koi's retail outlet since the launch of the filter and we realised how effective they are. We also use the Tempest filter on the systems using Drum filters and they have made a considerable difference to the Pond water clarity. The Tempest is also a biological filter and the bacteria which colonise the filter media will convert toxic Ammonia to slightly less harmful Nitrite, then finally Nitrite to fairly harmless Nitrate.

 The Tempest filter is easy to install and is simple and quick to clean, by way of a unique, patent pending air syphon design. During the cleaning process, air is drawn into the filter as it empties which causes the water to agitate, effectively cleaning the K+Media. Using Evolution Aqua’s K+Media as the filter media, particles down to one micron can be filtered.
